About the Opportunity

micro1 is engaging experienced Hardware Engineers to contribute to AI training projects involving complex, real-world engineering problems.

In this role, you will use your engineering expertise to create, solve, and evaluate technical challenges that require sound judgment, quantitative reasoning, and reproducible results.

The company is looking for engineers who have personally managed significant technical projects, such as taking hardware systems into production, validating models against test data, developing verification approaches, or diagnosing complex engineering failures.

Scope of Work and Responsibilities

  1. Create technically rigorous hardware engineering problems based on realistic industry or research scenarios.
  2. Develop clear reference solutions using engineering calculations, simulations, scripts, and experimental reasoning.
  3. Validate engineering results using appropriate technical tools and software.
  4. Apply first-principles reasoning to solve complex engineering challenges.
  5. Produce reproducible solutions that can be independently verified.

Engineering Tools

Relevant tools may include:

  • Python
  • MATLAB
  • Simulink
  • SPICE
  • Julia
  • C/C++
  • Test Automation Platforms
  • Equivalent Engineering Software

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's, Master's, or PhD degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, Aerospace Engineering, Systems Engineering, Applied Physics, or a related field.
  • Significant professional or research experience in hardware engineering, product development, systems integration, testing, validation, reliability, or failure analysis.
  • Demonstrated ownership of a substantial engineering problem or project.
  • Experience developing products or subsystems that reached production.
  • Experience validating models against physical testing or developing test systems.
  • Ability to diagnose and solve difficult engineering failures.
  • Experience working with coding agents is a must.

Work Schedule

  • Approximately 15 hours per week.
  • Fully remote, open globally.
  • Flexible working days and hours.
  • Weekend work is optional.

Compensation Structure

Advertised Pay: $60–$120 per hour.

Compensation is output-based. Experts are paid per task that meets the project specifications. The time required to complete each task may vary depending on experience and workflow. Minimum submission requirements apply.

Selection Process
